Jamie sat in his sixth-story apartment with his head in his hands, watching the rain run down his windows. His eyes were red from crying, the room was a mess, forsaken due to the emergency.

He had to get her out of his mind, somehow, just for a minute. He had to have some peace.
Pausing only to grab a jacket on his way out, he ran out the door and began to descend the many stairs of his apartment building. His footsteps echoed in the stairwell like his memories, and he quickened the pace, jumping the last flight.
